Our Mission Statement

The Arabia Mountain High School Band will establish and continue a tradition of excellence in music education through the dedication and commitment of all members in the band organization. The band program at Arabia Mountain exists to expose the community to a wide range of music and musical experiences. It is the goal of the AMHS Instrumental Music Department to develop well rounded, outstanding citizens by using the skills developed through learning music.

Band Membership

Membership in the Arabia Mountain High School band is open to all students enrolled at Arabia Mountain High School. Students who join the band are expected to exhibit the highest standards of excellence in musicianship, scholarship, citizenship and personal demeanor. The ensembles that constitute the complete band program at Arabia Mountain High School are as follows:
  • Concert Band
  • Marching Band
  • Jazz Band
  • Pep Band

CHARMS

Marching Band - Mean Green Funk Machine

Membership in the marching band is open to any student enrolled at Arabia Mountain High School who is also taking a band class.  Other students may participate in the band as auxiliary members.

Toxic Drum Line

  • Admission by audition only.
  • As the battery of the Band, students have opportunities to perform across the Metro Atlanta area.
  • Time commitment for the Drum Line is highly extensive.
  • Students may also gain the opportunity to play in the front ensemble as a melodic percussionist

Marching Band Axiliary Units

    Jewels, Emeralds and Sapphires

    • Composes the auxiliary section of the marching band and performs as separate ensembles during the spring semester.  
    • Adds color and beauty to the marching band and enhances the marching band’s performance.
    • Activities include:
      • All Marching Band activities
      • Indoor and Outdoor competitions, parades and festivals
      • Spring Recital/Production
      • Selected Dance contests
      • Public service performances

    Jazz Band

  • The Jazz Band is an integral part of the overall band program. 
  • Designed to promote the study and performance of music from the diverse jazz arena and related styles 
  • Membership is open to all qualified AMHS students by audition only
  • Performance opportunities include:
    • School functions/assemblies
    • Community events
    • GMEA District Jazz Festival
    • Rehearsal times will be announced

    Pep Band

  • Comprised of outstanding highly spirited members of the marching and concert band
  • Perform at home basketball games and used periodically to boost the spirit of the fans and student body at different events
  • Rehearsal times will be announced by the director
  • Music from the marching band is used primarily 
  • Membership is normally selected based upon the type of activity and is on an “as needed” basis

    •
